In 1871 he was living at 25 Park Street, St.Phillip and Jacobs, Bristol with his wife Ann and niece Agnes Burges. He was 45 years old and a Sugar Baker. Also living with them as a lodger was Jonas Lucas, aged 30, an Independent Minister of Wiveliscombe, Somerset and born in Bruton, Somerset.

In 1901 he was living at 99 Richmond Street, St.Phillip and Jacob, Bristol with his (grand?) daughter Rose, aged 14 and Ethel Burgess his stepdaughter, aged 18 from Barton Hill, Bristol. Charles was 75 years old, married and a Retired Builder.2
