In 1871 he was living with his Grandmother, Lucy Burgess (nee Matthews), aged 65, a widow and an Annuitant from Edington and his parents James and Ellen, aged 27 and 25, an Agricultural Labourer and a Dressmaker from Bratton and Edington. William was 2 years old.
In 1881 he was living in Edington, Wiltshire with his parents and 3 brothers. He was 12 years old and a Scholar. Also living with them was his grandmother, Lucy Burgess, aged 76, and Annuitant from Edington.
In 1901 he was living in Priory Road, Cosham, Wiltshire with his wife Eliza Ann, son William and sister-in-law Sarah Maria Oram. He was 30 years old and described as a Soldier - Working on Postal Furlough(?).

Eliza was 17 years old, unmarried and their General Domestic Servant. Also living there was Reuben's sister Rhoda, aged 66 from Trowbridge and her husband John Price, aged 66, a Yeoman from Tinhead, Wiltshire.
In 1901 he was living in Priory Road, Cosham, Wiltshire with her husband William, son William and sister Sarah Maria Oram. She was 27 years old.
